Education:
I earned my doctorate in counseling psychology from the Pennsylvania State University in 2004. I completed my internship in psychology at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, NYC.
Work History:
I have enjoyed working in private practice for the past seven years providing therapy and assessment services, but I have also previously worked in a variety of other clinical positions providing clinical assessments for research and diagnostic purposes, psychotherapy and clinical supervision in settings that include: hospitals, college counseling center, career services center, drug and alcohol inpatient, drug and alcohol halfway house, inpatient neuro-rehabilitation center, and state prison. I have performed evaluations in an in-patient mental health hospital.
Therapeutic Orientation:
My therapeutic orientation is an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, mindfulness, acceptance and other techniques, as well as my clinical experiences. I consider you an expert on your life and I a consultant. During therapy, I will provide a safe and supportive environment for the work we will do together. I will also challenge and encourage an active therapeutic process with an emphasis on action steps. Interestingly, I believe my job is to work myself out of a job, which translates to a focus on patient growth, healing and change. I work with children starting around the age of 4, adolescents and adults. Click here to set up an appointment or to ask questions.
